AUCKLAND, New Zealand: Three people with injuries have been taken to Auckland City Hospital following a head-on collision in Redvale, North Auckland this afternoon.
The incident took place around 4.20pm on East Coast Road triggering an emergency response soon after.
The Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to the accident site, getting the call at 4.33pm to assist a young male.
On arrival, the young man was in a critical condition and still trapped inside one of the crashed vehicles, a rescue helicopter spokesman said.
He required the services of the helicopter’s prehospital and retrieval medicine doctor.
It was later established the man would be transported to hospital by road ambulance with the Westpac medical crew accompanying him.
The incident had resulted in temporary closure of the East Coast Rd, which was later reopened by 6.45pm, police confirmed.
