Women booked for murder over Zetland high-rise death

SYDNEY: A 29-year-old woman was charged with murder following the death of her former partner in a domestic-related incident at a high-rise complex in Zetland.

Police had arrested Zixi Wang, also known as Jessie, yesterday afternoon at the Sea Cliff Bridge, between Sydney and Wollongong.

She appeared in Wollongong Local Court today via video link. During her appearance, she sat calmly in her prison greens and spoke only to acknowledge her name.

Her lawyer Kevin Zhu said she was too physically and mentally distressed to apply for bail.

Emergency services were called to Rose Valley Way about 8.45pm on Monday after Shuyu Zhou was discovered at the rear of the apartment tower.

A white steel fence at the back of the complex was found to be badly damaged.

Police officers and paramedics attempted to revive the 23-year-old, however, she died at the scene.

Police asked for the public’s help to find Ms Wang yesterday and she was arrested at 3.30pm near a white Mercedes on the bridge.

The vehicle was seized for forensic examination.

On Monday, residents of the apartment block said they heard screaming at about 8:30pm.

NSW Police confirmed the call for emergency services came from concerned residents in the high-rise complex.

On Tuesday morning detectives towed a white Ford hatchback from the carpark of the apartment complex.

Ms Wang will remain behind bars, and is expected to face Sydney’s Central Local Court in Sydney in August.
