LAHORE, Pakistan: The Federal Investigation Agency (FA) on Monday arrested eight Chinese nationals involved in trafficking Pakistani girls to China after contracting marriages with them.
According to media reports, the FIA has busted a gang of Chinese nationals, members of a racket involved in trafficking Pakistani girls to China after contracting marriages.
The arrests were made during a crackdown launched across Punjab, including the provincial Lahore. FIA said these Chinese men were involved in the practice of trafficking Pakistani girls in the guise of marriage, forcing them into prostitution later.
Private news television Geo News while quoting Deputy Director FIA Jamil Ahmad Khan Mayo said the authorities had arrested eight Chinese nationals in its ongoing crackdown against foreigners involved in illegal activities in the country.
He said that the Agency arrested eight Chinese nationals from Lahore airport and other areas on the charges of trafficking young women to China after marrying them.
According to the official, the suspects, with the assistance of Pakistani agents, contracted marriages with unsuspecting local girls and then trafficked them to China where the victims were forced into prostitution.
