Qazi Inayat Jalil’s Travelogue ‘Jaanan Cheeni’ launched

PESHAWAR: Jaanan Cheeni, a travelogue penned down by writer, poet and broadcaster Qazi Inayat Jalil Amber, was launched at a ceremony held here.

The ceremony was held at Archieves Hall Peshawar, which was presided over by noted writer and poet Prof. Dr. Ismail Wali Akhgar. Deputy Commandant Frontier Constabulary KP Fida Hussain was the chief guest of the event.

Anjuman Taraqi Khoward organised the programme which was attended by poets, literary personalities, bureaucrats, notables and students.

Titled as Jaanan Cheeni (China Travelogue ), the book comprised the travel account of the author to China.

The author has not only detailed the account of his travel to China he dwelt at length on the linguistic linkages between China and Chitral.  He traces the origin of many phrases and proverbs of Khowar (the local language spoken in Chitral) in the Chinese.

The author has also dilated upon geographical, historical and cultural resemblances between the northern part of the country and China.

Addressing the ceremony, Inayat Jalil said that many words of Khowar came from Chinese, which is a very rarely known fact.

The author said that he had shed light in the book on the importance given to the country’s north in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

He added the book will help the young generation to comprehend the importance and vitality of CPEC for Pakistan especially its northern areas.
