PPP holds demonstrations over PM’s ‘inappropriate remarks’

KARACHI: The People’s Youth Organisation (PYO) Sindh chapter on Friday held a protest demonstration to record protest against the use of what they called ‘foul language’ by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The Pakitan Peoples Party’s (PPP) youth wing organised rallies across the Sindh province in order to show solidarity with the PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. The protesters, holding PPP party flags and placards in support of Bilawal, demanded PM Imran Khan to tender an open apology over his ‘inappropriate remarks’. On the occasion, Railways Minister Shiekh Rasheed Ahmad was also widely criticised by the PPP loyalists.

During a massive rally from Hyderabad District Council to Hyderabad Press Club, protesters expressed their anger on the ongoing hate campaign against the PPP top leadership. The rally was led by PYO Vice President Tariq Balidi and Spokesperson Tamoor Ali Maher. Speaking on the occasion, Maher said Peoples Party has a bright track record of promoting tolerance and harmony in Pakistani politics. “However, personal attacks can never be tolerated by the PPP,” he said. Moreover, the PYO spokesperson also made an appeal to all the citizens of Pakistan to raise voice against such negative tactics, regardless of their political affiliations.

Tariq Balidi, in his address, also condemned the remarks by Imran Khan in strong words. He said Bilawal was a ray of hope for the entire nation. He emphasised that Imran Khan has attempted to promote hate speech, therefore, he must step down.

“It is time to raise voice against malpractices being introduced by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in Pakistani political arena,” Balidi said.

Demonstrations were also reportedly held in Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur, Nawab Shah, Dadu and other interior parts of Sindh. The PYO announced to hold protests in Karachi and Mirpurkhas on Sunday.
