ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed has met former Finance Minister Asad Umar to convince him to rejoin the federal cabinet. However, sources claim, Asad Umar is not ready to join the federal cabinet immediately.
Last week Umar resigned as Finance Minister and refused to continue to be part of the federal cabinet as Energy Minister.
Sheikh Rasheed had announced that he would meet Umar and would persuade him to reconsider his decision not to become part of the cabinet.
Sources said that Umar is not ready to immediately rejoin the cabinet. However, he promised to consider Sheikh Rashid request.
However, Rashid, who embarked on a four-day official tour of China with Prime Minister Imran Khan today, will reportedly seek another meeting with Umar upon his return to the country.
Sources said that Asad Umar was disturbed over the social media camping run against him, by some section of PTI social media team.
They said that Umar is of the view that Jahangir Tareen was behind the vilification campaign run against him on social media.
