PESHAWAR: One of the largest public sector health facilities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital (LRH), has seized heart operations due to lack of funds required for repair of machines at the facility.
According to reports, the LRH has stopped heart surgeries after the provincial health department refused to provide funds required for repairing machines in the hospital.
In a letter written by senior Lady Reading Hospital doctors to the hospital administration, they wrote a number of letters to the relevant authorities requesting funds for repairing machines, but their pleas went unheard.
The hospital administration in reply to the doctors said keeping in mind the health of the patients, no surgeries will be conducted since the machines were not functioning.
A spokesman of Lady Reading Hospital told private Geo News that the administration stopped the surgeries in a bid to save the lives of the patients.
