CJP-led bench to hear Nawaz Sharif’s bail plea on March 19

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Asif Saeed Khosa on Wednesday fixed the appeal of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif against the Islamabad High Court (IHC) decision to reject his plea for bail on medical ground for hearing on March 19, 2019.

The appeal will be heard by a three-member bench headed by CJP Asif Saeed Khosa. Other members of the bench are Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Yahya Afridi.

Nawaz has been imprisoned at Kot Lakhpat jail since December 2018 following his conviction in a corruption reference in line with the Supreme Court’s July 2017 verdict.

The former Prime Minister had moved to Islamabad High Court for bail on the medical ground by suspending his conviction. However, the IHC had rejected his plea, ruling that the former PM was getting the required treatment.
