ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has directed all TV channels and FM radios to carry news relating to armed forces issued officially by only Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) for all the three armed forces.
The regulatory authority in a directive, issued in pursuance of an earlier advice regarding the prevalent security situation, asked all the satellite TV channels and FM radio licensees, “that under the prevalent security environment, henceforth, carry news related to Armed Forces and security situation which are officially issued only by ISPR for all three services and other forces operating under the command of Pakistan Armed Forces. However, news coverage through sources or any other medium will be deemed in violation to this advice.”
“Notwithstanding, during the prevailing security environment, Pakistani media has been widely acknowledged by both, domestic as well as international community, for its responsible reporting. Your cooperation in this regard shall greatly be appreciated,” the directive said.
