Nawaz Sharif’s treatment is possible in Pakistan: Medical Board Head

LAHORE: The head of the medical board constituted by the government for treatment of Nawaz Sharif has said that the former prime minister is suffering from multiple health issues but his treatment is possible within Pakistan.

Head of the medical board Dr Mahmood Ayaz while talking to media said that Nawaz Sharif was suffering from multiple health issues such as such as high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney and cardiac problems.

He said that the medical board was tasked to carry out detailed checkup and tests of the former PM and change his medication.

Dr Ayaz said that all necessary tests of Nawaz Sharif were done and final checkup was carried out today.

The doctor said that the board will send its recommendations to the home ministry, which will decide further course regarding Nawaz treatment based on the recommendation.

He said that as per the protocol, he cannot reveal the test results of the patients.

On Saturday, the deposed prime minister was shifted from Kot Lakhpat jail to the hospital where he was examined by a three-member medical board.

According to hospital sources, Nawaz has been diagnosed with a kidney stone, but his blood test, ECG, uric acid and other reports were all clear.

In December last year, Nawaz was sentenced to seven years in prison in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption reference by an accountability court.
