Nawaz Sharif shifted to Services Hospital from Kot Lakhpat jail

LAHORE: Acting upon the recommendation of the medical board, Punjab government on Saturday shifted former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to Services Hospital from Kot Lakhpat jail.

The PML-N chief was taken to the hospital amid tight security.

Earlier, the Punjab Home Department ordered Kot Lakhpat jail authorities to shift the former premier to the hospital following the medical board recommendation.

A medical board had recommended shifting Nawaz to hospital after carrying out an examination of Nawaz at the Kot Lakhpat Jail. Owing to the heart ailment the former PM is suffering from, the medical board had recommended his shifting to the hospital.

Previously, a medical board of Jinnah Hospital had declared that Nawaz “is not completely well and he should be shifted to hospital from jail to get optimal treatment for his heart complications.”

Maryam Nawaz had said that the report of Jinnah Hospital medical board declares her father’s disease as “life-threatening”.

A special medical board of the Punjab Institute of Cardiology earlier said Nawaz had vague symptoms of pain in both arms, particularly at night and numbness of toes.

Nawaz Sharif is currently serving jail term at Kot Lakhpat handed down by an accountability court in a corruption reference.
