ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will be leaving for Doha today on a two-day official visit on the invitation of Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hammad al Thani.
According to Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr. Muhammad Faisal, during the visit, the Prime Minister will meet Emir of Qatar and his Qatari counterpart Abdullah bin Naseer bin Khalifa al Thani. During the meetings, matters of mutual interest will be discussed.
Imran is expected to seek concession in LNG prices and provision of gas on one year credit during the meeting with Emir of Qatar.
Pakistani leadership is expected to receive a positive reply on the issue of gas as it would provide relief to the debt-ridden country in the energy sector whose LNG import bill has reached $4 billion.
During the meeting, an agreement on provision of employment to the skilled Pakistanis is expected to be signed between the two countries.
The prime minister will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, PM’s Special Assistant on Overseas Pakistanis Zulfi Bukhari, Finance Minister Asad Umar and Adviser to PM for Commerce Abdur Razzaq.
