UNGA President arriving in Pakistani today on five-day visit

ISLAMABAD: United Nation General Assembly (UNGA) President Maria Fernanda Espinosa is arriving in Pakistan today on a five-day visit.

Fernanda Espinosa is visiting Pakistan on the invitation of the government of Pakistan.

“This will be the first official visit to the Asia-Pacific region by the President of the UN General Assembly since María Fernanda Espinosa took office,” a spokesman of the UNGA President had said last week.

Espinosa will meet with Prime Minister Imran Khan, President Arif Alvi,  Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, as well as representatives of the UN, civil society and women’s organisations.

She is also expected to meet members of the Women Parliamentary Caucus, chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme and visit Pakistan’s Peacekeeping Training Centre.

Espinosa will also address members of academia, think tanks and students.
