UAF to celebrate this year’s Valentine’s Day as Sisters’ Day

FAISALABAD: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) will be celebrating this year’s Valentine’s Day as ‘Sisters’ Day’.

The University administration said that the move is aimed at promoting eastern culture and Islamic traditions.

UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa said that the university would observe Sisters Day on February 14 this year.

As part of the Sisters’ Day celebrations, the university administration will be distributing scarfs, shawls and gowns among its female students.

Dr Randhawa said that the country has its own values and rich culture, norms, and Islamic values.

In our culture, women are more empowered and earned their due respects as sisters, mothers, daughters and wife, he added.

He said that western culture had taken roots in the country. We are forgetting our culture,” he added.
