Imran says Opposition’s walkout from NA a bid to seek NRO

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has branded the walkout of the opposition from the National Assembly session on Monday as a tactic to seek NRO.

On Monday opposition staged a walkout from the NA session after the speech of Opposition Leader Shahbaz Sharif, who raised questions over the transparency in the award of Mahmand Dam’s contract to a company owned by Prime Minister Advisor on Commerce.

Imran Khan tweeted: “In a Parliament that costs taxpayers billions yearly, yet another walkout in NA by the Opposition shows that this is the only function they intend to perform.  These are pressure tactics to seek an NRO and evade accountability for corruption in NAB cases not initiated by PTI.”

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government gave the contract after the process was started by the PML-N government.

When Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda took the floor to respond to Shehbaz Sharif, the opposition walked out of the House in protest.
