KARACHI: Sindh police has hinted at the involvement of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London’s South Africa chapter in the assassination of former MNA Ali Raza Abidi.
Abidi was shot dead outside his DHA residence by unknown attackers recently.
SSP Police South Pir Muhammad Shah said that the investigations into the murder revealed MQM-London’s members from London and South Africa had arrived in Karachi before the murder. He added that investigation was underway about their possible involvement.
The investigators have decided to interrogate activists associated with MQM-London, who are in different jails.
Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah, earlier in a meeting with deceased’s father, said that a “significant arrest” had been made with regard to the assassination.
Shah apprised the father of Ali Raza Abidi of the investigations of the case so far and that the key arrest was made from Karachi airport. He said the perpetrators would be brought to justice.
The chief minister reassured Abidi’s father that his son’s killer would be apprehended.
