CAA suspends licenses of fake degree holder pilots

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has suspended the licenses of fake degree-holder pilots and fake certificate-holder cabin crews with immediate effect keeping in view the proceedings of the Supreme Court of Pakistan

The Director-General of Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority Hassan Baig also issued directives to suspend the licenses of all those pilots and cabin crews who have not yet submitted their degrees and certificates. Their licenses will remain suspended till they submit their referred documents for verification.

Recently, a three-member Supreme Court took up a case pertaining to the fake degrees of pilots and crew members of the Pakistan International Airline (PIA) and other private airlines at the apex court’s Lahore Registry on Friday.

The bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar was informed that the PIA administration had fired 50 pilots who failed to furnish their educational record.

The report revealed that five PTI pilots have not passed even matriculation examinations. It also revealed that degrees of seven pilots were found to be faked while five pilots had not completed even their high school studies.

Justice Ijazul Ahsan remarked during the hearing that a person sans matriculation certificate was not even authorised to drive a bus while under-matric pilots were flying the planes.

The court was informed that cases of 4,321 employees had been verified while verification of 402 staff members of PIA is underway.
