Fawad Hassan Fawad Denies Reports About Plea Bargain with NAB

ISLAMABAD: Former Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Fawad   Hasan Fawad has denied the reports that he is seeking a plea bargain with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the Ashiyana Housing scam.

The grade 22 bureaucrat is in jail in a NAB case relating to Ashiyana Iqbal Housing scam. Former Punjab Chief Minister and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif is also behind the bars in the said case.

The bureaucrat maintains that he is innocent and all accusations of corruption and misuse of power against him are baseless.

Family sources of the bureaucrat said that the reports about Fawad approaching the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for a ‘plea bargain’ is another fiction concocted to mislead the media and entirely false.

They said after multiple documents that have been brought to the court’s attention in recent hearings, particularly the settlement betweenPLDC and Calsons among others, it is evidently clear the former principal secretary did not commit a single wrongful act as claimed by the anti-graft watchdog.

Fawad took the role of prime minister’s principal secretary in 2015 during the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz rule and worked with both Nawaz Sharif and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. Before this, he worked in Punjab with the then chief minister Shahbaz Sharif in different capacities.

The case against him is related to his stint in Punjab.
