Eid Al Fitr 2017 India moon sighting

NEW DELHI – The Central Committees for moon sighting in Bangladesh and India have announced that the crescent of the moon has not sighted in all over the country; the first of Ramadan will be celebrated on May 28, Sunday.

NEW DELHI – The Shawwal moon sighting across India will begin today after Maghreb prayer The Muslim community of India is most likely to celebrate Eid Al Fitr 2017 on Monday, June 26.

In some parts of the world, Eid will be celebrated on June 26. The biggest Muslim festival, Ramzan is also known as Ramadan in India. It was observed this year on May 28 and is likely to end on June 26.

However, astronauts have predicted that the moon for the next lunar calendar will be sighted on June 25 and the festival will be celebrated on June 26, Monday. The Government of India is likely to declare Eid holiday on June 26, Monday. Eid is celebrated during the first day of Shawaal.

Many countries like Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Syria, Iraq, Egypt and others are celebrating Eid al-Fitr on Sunday. But the Asian countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia are likely to celebrate it on Monday.

For Muslims, fasting for one month is a religious tradition, where they restrain themselves from food and water between dawn and dusk. Eid is the most important festival that marks the end of Ramzan month and a start of the Islamic month of Shawwal. So, Eid will be celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, which is the 10th month of Islamic calendar.

The date of Eid al-Fitr changes every year. The Islamic calendar originated when Prophet Mohammat migrated from Mecca to Medina (Hijri) in 622 AD. It is based on the phases of the moon. Every year, it becomes shorter by 11 or 12 days.

Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Pakistan has also announced the same; this means that in subcontinent first Ramadan will be celebrated on Sunday.

Although in Saudi Arabia there is a chance for moon sighting today, the central committee has set up to see the crescent of the moon.
