Shawwal Cresent sighted, First Eid Al Fitr 2017 in Saudi Arabia on Sunday

RIYADH – The Supreme Judiciary Council of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has announced that the Shawwal moon (Eid al Fitr2017) crescent has been sighted; Sunday will be the first Eid day in the Kingdom.

The moon sighting committee convene at the building of Supreme Court, after Namaz e Maghrib.

Supreme Court of KSA asked locals to contact local authorities if they get any pieces of evidence regarding Crescent watching.

Muslims in the Middle East, Europe, and the US will be anxiously waiting for the announcement of Eid Al Fitr as the majority in Western countries follow Saudi Arabia’s Islamic Hijri calendar.

However, the Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA), according to astronomical calculation, has already announced that Eid will be celebrated on June 25, 2017.

On the other hand, a moon sighting committee under the Minister of Justice, Sultan bin Saeed Al Badi will convene after Maghreb prayer on Saturday, 29th of Ramadan at the Judiciary Department in Abu Dhabi.

According to astronomical projections, there is a chance of seeing the moon on the 29 of Ramadan, which falls on Saturday.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs announced that Eid Al-Fitr prayers will be conducted in mosques, which will be announced by the government.
In Riyadh, there are some 650 mosques designated for that purpose. Arrangements will also be made to conduct Eid prayers in 33 open spaces, including Sulaimaniyah, Deira and Manfuha, with special places allocated for women.
The Department of Mosques at the ministry has instructed prayer leaders (imams) and those responsible for the maintenance of Eid mosques to ensure that all preparations, including adequate supplies of power and water, are made.
Contracting companies that maintain mosques in the city have been asked to clean the entire worshipping area of the Eid mosques and lay carpets for worshippers.


UAE Rulers to perform Eid Al Fitr prayer


Sheikh Mohammed to perform Eid prayer at Zabeel Mosque

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, will offer the Eid Al Fitr prayer at Zabeel Mosque in Dubai.

After the prayer, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed will receive Eid Al Fitr well-wishers, at the Grand Zabeel Majlish in Dubai.

Mohamed bin Zayed to perform Eid Al Fitr prayer at SZGM

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, will perform Eid Al Fitr prayer, at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi.

A number of Sheikhs, ministers and top officials will offer the prayer along with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi will then receive Eid Al Fitr well-wishers at Mushrif Palace.

Ruler of Sharjah to perform Eid Al Fitr prayer at Al Badea prayer site

His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, will perform Eid Al Fitr prayer at Al Badea prayer site in Sharjah city.

A number of Sheikhs, senior officials, a crowd of citizens and expatriate residents, will also pray along with the Ruler of Sharjah.

Sheikh Sultan Al Qasimi will receive well-wishers after the prayers and for two days in mornings and evenings.
