Ramadan 2017 moon sighting in UAE

DUBAI: The UAE government has on Thursday formed a committee for the sighting Ramadan 2017 moon.

The committee was formed by the Minister of Justice, Sultan Al Badi.
He is also chairing the committee that is meeting after Maghrib prayers on Thursday at Abu Dhabi Judicial Department to witness the first sighting of the crescent Moon.
Though the chances are thin, but if a new crescent Moon is sighted, Ramadan 2017 will begin tin UAE the following day.
Mr Al Badi called on Sharia courts across the country to look out for the crescent Moon and inform the committee. If a new crescent Moon cannot be sighted on Thursday, the committee will meet again on Friday, reported National.
“I believe it will be difficult to sight the crescent of Ramadan today,” said Dr Ahmed Al Haddad, Grand Mufti of Dubai.
“The positions of the Sun and Moon will make it difficult to sight the crescent tonight and determine the start of Ramadan,” National quoted him saying.

Whereas, the Ruet-e-Hilal Central Committee of Pakistan has called a meeting for sighting the of Ramadan moon on Friday, May 26.

Mufti Muneeb Ur Rehman will head the meeting.

Meteorological Department forecast slight chance of sighting the new moon on the evening of May 26 i.e. on 29th of Shaban, 1438 AH, with fair/partly cloudy weather expected in most parts of the country on the day.
