Ramadan 2017 moon sighting in Saudi Arabia

RIYADH: The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has asked all its citizens throughout the kingdom to sight the Ramadan moon (crescent) on Thursday evening, May 25, Sha’ban 29, 1438 H.

The Saudi Supreme Court in its announcement directed all Muslims of the kingdom to look for the Ramadan 2017 moon.

The kingdom has also asked that whoever sights the crescent by naked eyes or through binoculars to report to the nearest court and register his testimony, or report to the authority of the region’s centre in his area where he sighted the crescent to facilitate his reaching the nearest court, according to the Saudi Press Agency, as reported by Samaa News.

UAE to release salaries early this month for Ramadan 2017

If the moon sighted, the Saudi Arabia, UAE and some North African countries will start observing Ramazan from May 26 (Friday).

Whereas, the Ruet-e-Hilal Central Committee of Pakistan has called a meeting for sighting the of Ramadan moon on Friday, May 26.

Mufti Muneeb Urrehman will head the meeting.

Meteorological Department forecast slight chance of sighting the new moon on the evening of May 26 i.e. on 29th of Shaban, 1438 AH, with fair/partly cloudy weather expected in most parts of the country on the day.
