DUBAI: The UAE Ministry of Education has announced the revised school timings for the holy month of Ramadan 2017.

According to the statement issued in this regard, the student will attend up to five hours of classes during Ramadan.

As per Arabic media, the ministry said that the new Ramadan school timings will commence on Sunday, May 28, 2017.

“The school day during the month of Ramadan in all schools will be a maximum of five hours,” announced the ministry, Gulf News reported.

It also stated that boys’ schools will start at 8 am, while girls’ schools and pupils in kindergarten will start at 9am.

Schools have also been instructed to stop carrying out physical exercise (PE) classes or any other demanding physical activities during Ramadan. Additionally, students are prohibited from exposure to heat to avoid the risk of exhaustion and dehydration.

Earlier, the UAE government also announced to release salaries for the month of May before the due date.

All the government employees, retirees, and beneficiaries will now get their salaries on May 26 due to the holy month of Ramadan.

The gesture will enable employees, retirees and recipients of social assistance to meet the expenditure needs of their families for the holy month, KhaleejTimes reported.
