ICJ reserves verdict Kulbhushan Jhadav case

HAGUE – The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has reserved its judgment on India’s appeal for a stay of the execution of Kulbhushan Jadhav who was convicted of espionage and sentenced to death by Pakistan.

ICJ reached a conclusion after Pakistan’s lawyer Khawar Quraishi presented his arguments on Monday.

Quraishi, besides highlighting India’s usage of ICJ as political theater, he also argued over the jurisdiction of the court to hear a case of this nature.

New Delhi asked the ICJ judges on Monday to order Islamabad to stay the execution of the spy, a case that has escalated tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.

According to details Pakistani lawyer presented his argument and said that India remained silent in the matter of Kulbhushan and never talk about his the passport.

“India cannot be granted consular access to Kulbhushan Jhadav since he is not entitled to it,” he said, as quoted by Samaa.

Barrister Khawar said that Pakistan still wants peaceful relations with India, but never compromise on the sovereignty.

“Has India told the International Court of Justice who Kulbhushan is? India has not put forth any evidence of Jhadav’s innocence,” he said, as quoted by Samaa.

India has not presented its evidence in the ICJ, it is a collective responsibility of all nations to punish the terrorists, he said during the procedure of case.
