We have been entertained for a long time by free SIM cards by just paying for the airtime along with it. Now, PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) has announced Rs. 200 the base price of new SIMs.
The new prices implemented from December 9, 2016.
The spokesperson of PTA confirmed that the operators are not permitted to sell the SIM below the base price.
But we are well aware that before this measure the cellular services were selling SIM for nothing under various promotions to increase their number of subscribers to get ahead of other service providers in ranking.
Companies tempted the consumers by offering free minutes, SMSs and MBs, and costumers used to throw the SIMs after consuming the free resources and now they will avoid doing it because they will pay Rs. 200 for it.
There is a notion that with this increased price of SIMs the operators might offer the same value of free resources to ease customers mind.
It is worth mentioning here that if any operator found violating the orders, then PTA will take legal measure against it.
