This is how Indian media reacts to Junaid Jamshed’s death

KARACHI: Renowned Islamic preacher and social activist Junaid Jamshed lost his life along with his wife Nahya Jamshed and three children in a PIA plane crash on Tuesday.

The news about Junaid Jamshed’s tragic demise was instantly met with trauma and horror.

International media especially Indian newspapers gave special coverage to his sudden death. Here are some excerpts from Indian newspapers.

Hindustan Times:

Hindustan Times, while highlighting his 52-years career, wrote, “Pakistan’s famous pop star-turned- Islamic-preacher Junaid Jamshed was on board the ill-fated PK-661 flight that crashed on Wednesday near Havelian while on its way to the national capital, killing all passengers.

52-year-old Jamshed, a high-profile member of the Tablighi Jamaat, was returning from Chitral where he had gone for preaching-related work.”

Indian Express:

This newspaper highlighted his pop singing career and that how he turned towards religion and became and indispensable part of a religious party.

“Jamshed retired from music in 2001 and announced that he was devoting his life to Islam, joining the conservative Tableeghi Jamaat religious organization.”

The Times Of India:

This Indian Daily published interviews and reactions from Bollywood stars on the sad demise of Junaid Jamshed.

“Rishi Kapoor has mourned the death of renowned singer and preacher Junaid Jamshed, who died in a plane crash in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The veteran actor says we have lost an artist in him.”
