Hafeez eyes national comeback as an allrounder

KARACHI: Pakistan allrounder, Mohammad Hafeez said Firday that he was eyeing to make a comeback in the national team after clearing his bowling action test.

Hafeez last played for Pakistan in August during England ODIs, where he returned home after suffering an injury. He was dropped from the side on fitness grounds as well as for having a poor run with the bat.

He talked to media at National Stadium, Karachi on Friday. On a question regarding not playing Bangladesh Premier League, where many Pakistanis are playing, he replied, “Playing for Pakistan is important for me.”

“All these leagues are second priority for me, that is why I have refused it before and refused this time as well because playing here and making a comeback in the national side is much more important for me,” he added.

He was banned from bowling in international cricket in July 2015 for 12 months after his action was found illegal for the second time. However, he has worked on his action and he is believing that he will have the same bite in his bowling with some tweaks in his action.

“I don’t have any magic tricks,” he said. “I don’t bowl any Doosra, Teesra or any such variety, I am a simple off-spinner so I have not really worked on them, I depend on my natural variations, some get break some don’t,” he added.
