LAHORE: Stage producer al Rana Muzammal, who according to police ordered the killing of stage actress Kismat Baig, has confessed his role in the murder.
In his statement to police during investigation, Rana Muzammil told interrogators that his intention was not to kill Kismat Baig.
“I only wanted her to be injured in the firing,” he said.
The suspect revealed that he had paid Rs500, 000 to the assailants.
“I asked her to perform in a stage drama in Faisalabad, but she rejected my offer,” he said, adding that he wanted to teach her a lesion and ordered the gun attack.
Meanwhile, police said that the investigation into Kismat Baig’s murder was handed over to CIA Cantonment.
Kismat Baig was killed after gunmen riding motorbikes intercepted her car and opened fire.
The actress was rushed to Services Hospital, where she breathed her last.
