New ICC Test ranking to bring BAD NEWS for Pakistan

DUBAI: After a dramatic batting collapse against New Zealand In the second Test, Pakistan not only lost the series 2-0, but also lost valuable points in the ICC Test ranking.

The loss has dropped Pakistan Test team from second to fourth spot in the International Cricket Council’s Test team rankings on Tuesday.

Pakistan lost the second Test by 138 runs after being in a position to win this game.

At a point, Pakistan were 131-1 around tea break, and then slipped to 230 for 10 to eventually get whitewashed 2-0.

Pakistan had lost the first match in Christchurch by 8 wickets.

Pakistan, before going into the series against New Zealand, were on 109 points, however, defeats at Christchurch and Hamilton pushed them down to 102 points. Misbahul Haq’s men lead South Africa (102) on decimal points.

Meanwhile, England (105) have moved up to the second position followed by Australia (105) on third, with the former leading on decimal points. India still lead the Test team rankings with 115 points on the board.

New Zealand (96), after beating Pakistan, have gained five points to move to the sixth position from seventh above Sri Lanka (96).

Last month, Pakistan were toppled from their number one spot in Test rankings by India after Virat Kohli and his men whitewashed the Kiwis 3-0.
