ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Miyan Nawaz Sharif on Saturday appointed Lieutenant Gen Zubair Mahmood Hayat as new Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee (CJCSC) and Lt is General Qamar Javed Bajwa as the news Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

Senior journalist who is considered privy to GHQ lodges, Dr. Shahid Masood has wrote on his official Twitter account that on the appointment of Gen Qamar Bajwa as new Army Chief, his senior Generals will resign.

It is pertinent to mention here that, nothing official, but this has been a tradition that whenever an out-of-turn General is elevated to the top post, his senior generals step down.

Newly appoint Chief General Qamar Bajwa is the 16th Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and the 5th to be appointed by Nawaz Sharif.
