KARACHI: Mobile phone service in Karachi, Hyderabad and different major cities of Sindh was restored on Monday night after a daylong closure as part of security arrangements on the occasion of Chehlum, the culmination of 40-day mourning period of martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his followers at the battle of Karbala.
According to reports reaching here, cellular phone has been restored in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Sukkur and other cities, TheNewsTribe.com
The mobile phone service was suspended at 12 pm.
Apart from suspension of the phone services, pillion riding was also banned in many cities in order to avert any sabotage activities on mourning processions and majalis being organized in connection with the Chehlum.
Meantime, Karachi traffic police has mapped out a traffic plan for convenience of commuters looking for clear routes around the mega city.
