Green signal for Pakistan to participate in Junior Hockey WC in India

LAHORE: The government of Pakistan has given a nod to junior hockey team for participation in World Cup in India.

Secretary of Pakistan Hockey Federation Shahbaz Ahmed announced Saturday that sports board has allotted NOC to the team after which the preparations have been geared up.

He was speaking to media here in Lahore.

On the other hand, Head Coach Tahir Zaman said that players’ morale has been boosted up due to the permission of the government.

Earlier, International Hockey Federation (FIH) announced schedule for 11th Men’s Junior Hockey World Cup, starting from December 8 this year in India.

As many as 16 teams will be participating in the event that will last for 11 days.

The teams included in Group A are Argentina, Australia, Austria and Korea whereas Pakistan, Holland, Belgium and Egypt have been listed in Group B.

Germany, Japan, New Zealand and Spain were placed in Group C while Group D consisted of Canada, England, India and South Africa.

The possible players for junior Hockey World Cup are Ali Raza, Muneeb-ur-Rehman, Hafiz Ali Umair, Atif Mushtaq, Hassan Anwar, Mubashar Ali, Zahid Ullah, Abu Bakr Mahmood, Faizan, Junaid Kamal, M Usman, Tazeem-ul-Hassan, M Adnan, Immad Shakeel, Shaan Irshad, Azfar Yaqoob, M Dilbar, M Attiq Arshad, Bilal Qadar, Mohsin Sabir, Rana Sohail, Sami Ullah, M Rizwan, M Naveed, Fahad Ullah Khan and Umar Hamidi.
