Pakistan’s struggling film industry: Showbiz minds to meet in Karachi – #SFMAGD16

KARACHI: To address the grave state of Pakistan’s film and showbiz industry, a non-profit organisation Support Free Media will be hosting its Annual Grand Dinner to bring showbiz personalities and intellectuals under a single roof.

Tamjid Aijazi, founder of Support Free Media, will host the glitzy and ostentatious affair that attempts to bridge the gap between intellectuals and media professionals and provides a platform to come up with a single, defined vision and strategy for Pakistan’s film industry.

Renowned Hollywood Pakistani American screenwriter Kamran Pasha, Director Saife Hasan, UK based filmmaker Aisha Ghazi, renowned actor Shamoon Abbasi, New York Film Academy Alumni and actress Aleeze Nasser, director Azfar Ali and producer/actor Osama Bin Ghazi will be speaking at the event. Legendary screenwriter Haseena Moin and actor Farhan Ally Agha will be Guests of Honour at Support Free Media’s Annual Grand Dinner.

For the past few decades Pakistan’s film industry has wilted into a chaotic mess of substandard films with no perspective or intelligence. The industry has suffered from films which are neither technically component nor profound enough to merit a place on an international platform. While things have improved in the past few years, there is lot more that needs to be done in order to achieve a self-sustainable film industry that delivers excellence.

Support Free Media’s Annual Grand Dinner is scheduled to be held on 10th Dec 2016 at The Royal Rodale – an occasion where intellect meets style, happens to be one of the few events that will provide food for thought for showbiz professionals in Pakistan.

The Annual Grand Dinner is an invite-only event and is not open to public.
