FIA to probe into forged Iqbal Day holiday notification

ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry of Pakistan on Tuesday has referred the matter of forged notification about holiday on Iqbal Day (9th November, 2016) to Cyber Crime Cell of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), a ministry spokesman announced here on Tuesday.

The move comes after a notification was circulated on popular social networking forums like Facebook and Twitter, claiming that the federal government would observe Iqbal Day as national holiday on November 9, Samaa News reported.

It said that all public and private offices in addition to schools would remain shut to mark the day.

The interior ministry has, however, denied issued any statement, clarifying that it would be business as usual on November 9.

It also referred the matter to FIA for action against those spreading the forged notification.

On the other hand, the Sindh government declared Wednesday to be a holiday for schools and other educational institutions.
