ISLAMABAD: Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Parvez Rasheed has been removed from his post on Saturday, TheNewsTribe.com reported.
AS per initial reports, he has been removed from the job on the directives of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who was under severe pressure from Army establishment following the Cyril Almeida Scandal.
According to local media reports, the minister has been ordered to leave the post till completion of investigation.
Spokesman to PM Nawaz, Musaddiq Malik has stated on a local TV that resignation has been taken from Parvez Rasheed becasue he was found responsible for the news gate.
Cyril Almedia’s story, published on October 6, brought a storm in the media and political circles as it mentioned an alleged civilian and military rift during the National Security Committee (NSC) meeting over the issue of tackling militant outfits.
The story drew an outpour of criticism with the military stating that it was fed to the reporter and demanded investigations into it. It cost Almeida placement of his name on the Exit Control List for less than a week, before the government eventually lifted his travel ban.
