JI expresses concerns on noncompliance of SHC orders

KARACHI: Jamat Islami (JI) Karachi chief Engr. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has expressed his dissatisfaction over the noncompliance of governmental machinery in regard to the closure of liqueur shops.

The Sindh High Court had ordered the Sindh government to cancel the licenses for liqueur bars across the province.

The JI leader said that despite the orders of the SHC, police and other concerned departments did not seemed serious to get the orders obeyed in letter and spirit.

Engr. Naeem-ur-Rehman welcomed the decision of the SHC and said that liqueur is prohibited not only in Islam but Christianity and Hinduism as well.

He further said that some quarters have been promoting liqueur just for their nefarious monitory interests, in the pretext of minorities. He was of the view that promoting liqueur is tantamount to inviting the curse of Allah Almighty.

The JI leader further said that sale of intoxicating drinks in Muslims majority localities is a matter of grave concern for the society. He added that the sale of contraband has been creating acute unrest among Muslims.

He demanded of the government to comply with the court orders in letter and spirit, instead of compelling masses to take to streets. He warned of the authorities of agitation, if the shops are not closed down with immediate effect.

Engr. Naeem appealed masses to contact JI offices and share their information regarding to the liqueur shops in their localities so as to compile complete data and devise a comprehensive strategy to get these shops regulate as per the directions of the SHC.
