West Indies first innings conclude at 357

DUBAI: After an early resistance from West Indies top order, the whole team rolled up for 357 runs in response to Pakistan’s 579/3d in the first innings of first Test match at Dubai Cricket Stadium, Dubai.

Pakistan skipper won the toss and elected to bat first. The decision was well backed by the new opening pair as the duo added record 215 runs for the first wicket.

Sami Aslam was unfortunate to miss his first Test hundred as he dragged on one from Chase to wickets at his individual 90.

Azhar Ali, who was promoted up the order in Hafiz’s absence, went on to complete his maiden 300. With the monumental performance, he became only fourth Pakistani joining 300-Club, while 29th overall.

His innings was well supported by debutant Babar Azam (69), Asad Shafiq (67) and then Misbah (39*).

As soon as he completed his triple ton, Pakistan skipper called it a day and asked hosts side to begin their innings.

West Indies top and middle order showed some resistance but they were eventually all out in the first session of day 4 on 357, as Yasir took another fiver-far to reach to his 100 wicket milestone.

Yasir Shah sent Brathwaite, Johnson, Dorwich, Holder and Cummins back to the pavilion during the first innings.

From Windies, only DM Bravo (89) and Marlen Samuels (76) were notable innings, wheres as KG Brathwaite (32) and SO Dowrich (32) down the order helped Windies resist Pakistan bowling.

On the other hand, Pakistan opted against imposing follow on, and went to bat.
