Cellular services resume across country

KARACHI: Cellular phone services in most pats of the country have resumed across Pakistan on Wednesday after daylong blockage owing to security reasons.

The mobile phone service was jammed in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Multan, Faisalabad, Gilgit Baltistan, Abbottabad, Shujabad, Hyderabad, Sukkur and many other small and big cities on the occasion of Ashura.

According to Interior Ministry, there were requests from over 50 cities to suspend cellular phone services on Muharram 9 and 10.

In a statement yesterday, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar said that the government would shut down phone services for minimum time possible.
