Second ODI: Pakistan post 337/5 on board

SHARJAH: Courtesy to splendid innings from Babar Azam and Malik’s 90, Pakistan posted 338-run target in first innings of second ODI against West Indies at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Pakistan skipper Azhar Ali won the toss and elected to bat first.

Taking full advantage of the current form and flat batting wicket, Pakistan began to score at brisk rate, they were 40/4.4 overs.

Pakistan lost 2 quick wickets in 3 balls as Azhar Ali (9) and Sharjil Khan (24) returned to pavilion, leaving two new batsmen on the crease.

Babar Azam and Malik played carefully in first couple of overs after the wicket fall, but then played their shot all around the ground, piling up a 169-run partnership on 171 ball for the third wicket.

Malik departed for 90, and Sarfraz was the new man joining them in the middle.

The pair then added quick 73 runs on just 69 balls before Babar Azam fell after his second consecutive hundred as he miscued a shot to fall on 123 off 126 balls. His splendid innings was studded with 9 fours and one big sixer.

After his departure, Sarfraz Ahmed took the charge and began hitting Windies bowlers around the park.
