First T20: Pakistan win by 9 wickets

DUBAI: Pakistan thumped world champion West Indies by 9 wickets in the first T20 of three-match series at the Dubai International Stadium, Dubai.

Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed won the toss and opted to field first straightaway, expecting the due-factor to make bowling difficult in the second innings.

Imad Wasim with his destructive spell of bowling made life hell for West indies batting lineup as he ended up taking first five-wicket haul in this format of cricket for him and also for his country.

DJ Bravo and Jarome Taylor fought hard to drag Windies to 115/10 creating record 66-runs 9th wicket partnership for the 9th wicket.

Bravo was the last man to depart for West Indies, he scored a brilliant, well-fought 55 off 54 balls.

Muhammad Nawaz bowled intelligently for his 1 for 16 in 4 overs. Sohail Tanvir took 2 for 26 in 3.5 overs, bowling a 3-run last over with 2 wickets.

Requiring just 116 runs to win, Pakistan cruised away to the victory in just 14.2 overs with 9 wickets in hand.

Young led Babar Azam was the star with the bat for Pakistan for his unbeaten 55 runs off just 37 balls.
