ISLAMABAD: Senior Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) leader and a close aide to Chairman Imran Khan, Saifullah Niazi has resigned over differences with the leadership on party’s policies.
Niazi was the Central Additional Secretary General of PTI. Party’s spokesman Naeem ul Haq also confirmed Niazi’s resignation.
Saifullah Niazi was also the head of PTI’s committee during Islamabad sit-in in 2014.
Sources say that Saifullah Niazi has distanced himself from the party now.
The development is a major setback for Imran Khan, who is set to set to lead his party to Raiwind, the camp office of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
PTI already suffered a huge blow when Dr Tahir ul Qadri said that PAT would not join Imran Khan in his Raiwind March.
