LONDON: The reports have been circulating that Pakistan ODI captain Azhar Ali is going to announce his quit from ODI captaincy.
It is also said that the ODI skipper was forced to take this decision by PCB after a shameful, 4-0 series lose against England.
According to the reports, Azhar Ali had agreed to quit captaincy on a condition that he would not be expelled from the ODI team.
But, a statement from Azhar’s close aide has changed the scenario completely.
As per latest development, Azhar Ali has refused to step down from the captaincy, saying that he would wait for the board to announce the decision itself.
A senior sports journalist and Pakistan correspondent to ESPNCricinfo, Umar Farooq Kalson tweeted today that Azhar Ali has abandoned the idea to relinquish ODI captaincy and has informed PCB about his decisions.

Reports from the PCB lodges suggest that two names are under consideration for ODI captaincy, Imad Wasim and Sarfraz Ahmed.
Thouhgh Sarfraz is a stronger choice for captaincy, senior players like Wasim Akram and Rashid Latif have opposed the idea, saying that this would bring extra pressure on wicket-keeper-batsman, and his performance would be effected.
