KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan announced that he would lead his party to Raiwind March on September 24 to register protest against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) over charges mentioned in Panama Leaks.
Khan was addressing a massive rally at Nishtar Park in Karachi on Tuesday evening. He invited people from across the country to take part in Raiwind March against Nawaz Sharif.
He underscored a need for depoliticizing police in Sindh to bring about turnaround so that pace of progress could be set in motion.
He said he decided to visit Karachi after he heard the anti-Pakistan declamation by MQM Chief Altaf Hussain, adding Karachi would have been the most developed city, had there been no fear.
Altaf Hussain, he remarked, introduced terrorism in Karachi in mid-1980s, adding the Mohajir do not need to prove their patriotism to anyone.
“Mohajir cricketer Javed Miandad played with me for 18 years. He always took pride in playing for Pakistan,” he asserted.
Giving a message to the people of Karachi, he said the Muttahida chief enslaved people on the basis of fear, adding, “If you want to live, do away fear of death.”
“Had this city not been under the reign of terror, it would have turned into Dubai,” he added.
Most of Karachi problems are due to lack of Local Bodies system, Khan said adding the proper Local Governments system changes lives of people.
Karachi generates as much as 60 percent of national revenues and this money will be spent on Karachi if corruption is stemmed, he said.
Corruption can only be held back by strengthening national institutions, Imran Khan highlighted saying the NAB and FBR cannot be set in order in the presence of Nawaz Sharif.
