Amir Liaquat Hussain may be arrested again

KARACHI: SSP Malir, Rao Anwaar has stated Thursday that religious scholar Amir Liaquat Hussain, who is booked under several cases, could be arrested.

Amir Liaquat recently announced to quit Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) over Altaf Hussain’s anti-Pakistan slogans and inflammatory speech.

Rao Anwaar said during a media talk that Amir Liaquat is nominated as ‘facilitator’ in three different cases registered against him in Malir police station.

He said an especial team has been formed as police have finally decided to arrest the prominent scholar and TV host.

On Monday, he announced to part ways with MQM after Rangers arrested his from his office on I.I. Chundrigar Road following Altaf Hussain’s anti-Pakistan speech that led to violent attacks on media houses.

Amir Liaquat said he has taken the decision to quit MQM as well politics in the wake of Altaf Hussain’s anti-Pakistan remarks.

Liaquat was also previously affiliated with MQM, and had been expelled from the party in 2008 for ‘violating’ party policy.

Speaking at Samaa’s programme ‘Awaz’, he said his heart is broken after people started calling him a traitor. “I have worked a lot for Pakistan, I am not a traitor.”
