Pakistan vs Ireland second ODI called off due to rain

DUBLIN: The second and final ODI of two-match series has been called off due to continuous and heavy rain at The Village, Malahide, Dublin.

No single ball was bowled in today’s game.

The match was first scheduled to begin at 10:45 local time (09:45 GMT | 14:45 PKT) as per schedule. But heavy rain delayed the toss. The umpires delayed the inspection until 1 pm, but it began to pour down again heavily, moments before umpires were to take the field for inspection.

The hide and seek of rain and no rain continued until 4:30 pm, and ground staff kept bringing in and taking back the covers. Umpires had to call it a day without a ball bowled.

Official Twitter account of Cricket Ireland announced the bad news for both teams and fans.

It has been officially confirmed that there will be no play today. #BackingGreen#COYBIG#IREvPAK

That makes Pakistan winning the two-match ODI series 0-1. The presentation ceremony was organized indoors with limited people allowed in. Pakistan’s left-arm opening batsman Sharjeel Khan was chosen Man of The Series for his magnificent innings in last match.
