LONDON: Pakistan had many highs and lows during the Test series against England this summer. Not only Pakistan, England itself had a poor run during ground fielding and catching especially.
It is said- Catches Win Matches. But, both teams either did not like the saying or have never heard it yet.
Because, in four match-Test series, Pakistan dropped twelve catches altogether. Four catches dropped in each Test match, two in an inning as per average.
Most of the catches were dropped off Mohammad Amir’ ball whereas, Mohammad Hafeez, Younis Khan and Azhar Ali were the most catch dropping fielders.
Despite low-standard catching, Pakistan were competent enough to level the series after losing two consecutive Tests in England.
England are considered one of the toughest Test sides in home conditions, and were undefeated since four years.
England won, two Ashes, defeated India twice and Pakistan once, before Green Caps showed great resistance in the series to not letting England repeat history.
Pakistan had golden chance to stamp a 3-1 victory in the series, but hey missed chance at Edbgaston while England grabbed it.
The only team to defeat England in recent times was South Africa who clinched the three-match Test series 2-0.
