ANKARA: Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said Friday night that a group of Army has launched an illegal operation against government, but the government remained in power.
He said those who are involved, will face highest consequences.
Earlier a group of Turkish military has launched an operation against Erdogan government, resultantly closing bridges in Istanbul while air-crafts flying over Ankara.
gunshots are also heard in Ankara while army tanks have been deployed outside Istanbul airport.
Traffic has been stopped from crossing both the Bosphorus and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges in Istanbul, reported BBC.com.
BBC quoted Mr Yildirim via NTV television that, “We are working on the possibility of an attempt. We will not allow this attempt.” He did not elaborate.
“Those who are in this illegal act will pay the highest price,” he added, saying it would not be correct to describe the move as a “coup”.
