Pak vs Eng: Highlights of Lord’s Test first day

LONDON: Pakistan were 282 for six at stumps on the first day of the first Test against England at Lord’s on Thursday. Here are the highlights of day one.

A very solid day from Pakistan’s batsmen, led by an exceptional ton from captain Misbah. Hafeez and Younis contributed with starts but not much else till Misbah combined with Shafiq to first stabilise, then utilise some wayward bowling to put England under the sword.

Woakes was England’s standout bowler, aided by two loose strokes towards the end of the day. Still, Pakistan’s day I reckon. Clearly, Misbah’s day.

Misbah-ul-Haq, who in the course of his innings became the oldest Test centurion in 82 years, was 110 not after Rahat Ali was bowled by Chris Woakes off what became the last ball of the day.

Warwickshire all-rounder Woakes led England’s attack with four for 45.
