ONTARIO: The Canada s Hilal Committee is going to meet today, July 4, 2016, to sight the crescent of Shawwal (Eid-al-Fitr 2016) after Maghrib’s prayer.
The meeting will be held at Imdadul Islamic Jamat, 26 Lepage Ct. North York Ontario.
Committee has asked two members from each local mosque to join the sighting before sunset.
Astronomically, the committee decides that if the moon is not sighted, then the Muslims in Canada will have 30 days of Ramadan and Eid will be celebrated on July 6, 2016.
The Supreme Judiciary Council of Saudi Arabia will also meet today to witness the Shawwal crescent.
Supreme Court of KSA has asked locals to contact local authorities if they get any evidences regarding crescent watching.
Muslims in the Middle East, Europe and the US will be anxiously waiting for the announcement of Eid Al Fitr as majority in Western countries follow Saudi Arabia’s Islamic Hijri calendar.
