Eid al-Fitr 2016 moon sighting in Europe

LONDON: Shawwal moon in many European countries is likely to be sighted on 4th July, Monday, after Maghreb prayers.

The crescent moon will be visible to naked eye if the sky remains clear on the eve of July 4, meteorologists said.

However, Muslims across the EU continent and Western countries will be keenly waiting for the announcement from KSA officials as they follow Saudi Arabia’s Islamic Hijri calendar.

The Supreme Judiciary Council of Saudi Arabia will also meet Tuesday to witness the Shawwal crescent.

While other Muslim countries including Pakistan, Bangladesh, India and some other Asia countries will organise their moon sighting session respectively on the same day to decide the first lunar day of Shawwal.
